  62. About The Program
  63. =================
  64.  
  65. 1.  This is a heavy duty Word Processing Program intended for a wide
  66.     variety of word processing and editing tasks. As installed, it is
  67.     ideal for the touch typist - there is no need to take your hands
  68.     off the home row to activate any of the functions.
  69.  
  70. 2.  The novice should have no difficulty in using the program - the
  71.     program is easy to learn, since it comes with context sensitive
  72.     help available at the press of the F1 key. There is also a
  73.     tutorial on the program disk, for novice users to try out the
  74.     various functions.

  76. 3.  The program comes supplied with industry standard Pull Down Menus
  77.     to make learning it even easier. The point and select usage means
  78.     that touch typists do not need to lift their hands from the home
  79.     row. In addition, each command on the pull down menu can
  80.     optionally display the command sequence needed to activate it, so
  81.     novices can learn the commands. The pull down menu is activated by
  82.     the F10 key.

  84. 4.  The keyboard commands are fully configurable from an installation
  85.     program. Many of the options are also configurable from inside the
  86.     program. As supplied, it comes installed with a WordstarTM
  87.     compatible interface, which is the industry standard for editor
  88.     programs. Experienced users do not need to use the pull down
  89.     menus, since all functions of the menu are also available at the
  90.     press of one or two keys.

  92. 5.  The word processor document files are ASCII text files, which
  93.     means that there are no funny embedded characters (unless you use
  94.     the print control sequences) and no hi order bits set on. The
  95.     files are WordstarTM compatible, which means that you can load
  96.     them into any word processor that reads Wordstar files. Apart from
  97.     printer control strings, all formatting commands are by use of dot
  98.     commands (. in column one) or embedded functions ({. }) in the
  99.     text body.

  101. 6.  There are up to 8 editing windows, which can look at different
  102.     files or the same file. These files can be loaded from the
  103.     parameter line. Any window can be zoomed to occupy the entire
  104.     screen.

  106. 7.  Printer support includes laser printers. It is easy to customise
  107.     the printer drivers, and different ones can be selected from a
  108.     pick list at print time. Printing also occurs in background,
  109.     letting you go on with other word processing tasks.

  111. 8.  The program comes with a 100,000 word dictionary and an update
  112.     program that will add or delete words from the dictionary. In
  113.     addition to the main dictionary, you can set up auxiliary
  114.     dictionaries in each directory, containing words specific to
  115.     particular projects. Main dictionaries are available in American,
  116.     Australian and British versions.

  118. 9.  The program can generate indexes and tables of contents. Both
  119.     these files can be customised during the generation by use of
  120.     options embedded in the text. In addition, paragraphs can be
  121.     numbered automatically in several formats.

  123. 10. The program comes with macro facilities, the ability to record
  124.     keystrokes, and a number of macro files for additional
  125.     flexibility. In addition, macros can be invoked at program start
  126.     up from the parameter line.

  128. 11. Printing, index and table of contents generation can include other
  129.     files, which can in turn include other files, up to 5 levels of
  130.     nesting. This means that even the biggest novel or research paper
  131.     can be easily managed.

  133. 12. Automatic reformatting of text is available. This can be turned ON
  134.     and OFF as required. In addition automatic hyphenation is
  135.     available.

  137. 13. Tables are supported, as is word wrap and justification of each
  138.     table column independently. Column mode blocks can be defined and
  139.     copied, moved or deleted.

  141. 14. Comprehensive monitor support - MONO, CGA, EGA or VGA or HERCULES.

  143. 15. DOS shell is supported to permit use of all DOS commands from
  144.     within the program. Can also free up memory to run large programs.

  147.     result can be pasted into your text.

  150.     these characters available at the press of a key. Load the macro
  151.     files SINGLE.MAC for single lines and DOUBLE.MAC for double lines.
  152.     Additional macro files contain European and Greek characters.

  154. 18. Optional on screen display of fonts is also available. You can
  155.     edit text with this mode operating (unlike wordstar).

  157. 19. Printing can have multiple headers and footers, and these can
  158.     include functions such as current date or time.

  161.     and within the text body. Print functions can be evaluated on
  162.     screen, and include date and time, file name, revision marking and
  163.     so on.

  165. 21. Comprehensive text formatting is available and can be stored in
  166.     the text as ruler lines. There is no limit on the number of ruler
  167.     lines you can have. There is even a file of standard ruler lines
  168.     that can be automatically included into your text. You can add
  169.     other lines to this file should you so desire.
